Feagin

Union Springs has a rich history of Artisians who have left and did well in the Arts.  Several were

well known in New York City and around the World.    We are endeavoring to add information on

the artist listed below as well as others as they become known to us.

There were 2 Opry Houses in Union Springs as one time that apparently fostered the interest

in the Arts.  All of the artist below were influenced in some way by these houses.

Our local museum is also attempting to showcase other artistians that have practiced here over

the past years and ANY information would be appreciated.

Other names to be added are Chapman, Hartwig,

Edwards

Helen Claire Rosenstihl Smith

One of a handful of artisans who were affected by the presence of play and acting sources found in Union Springs.  The Eley Opera House (where current City Hall Stands) is said to have affected many residents while it was active here.  Lucy Feagins school of Drama and Radio was attended by Ms. Rosenstihl and Ben Edwards both of Union Springs.

Many of the pictures below are digital copies of originals shown at Bullock County Historical Society meeting (Dean Spratlin- curator); copies of pictures local Bullock Countians allowed me to digitalize and other were from internet sources.
